About the Chamber
The South Chicago Chamber has been serving the South Chicago Community since the early 1900’s. The group was incorporated in 1924 to “Help promote and strengthen the South Chicago Business District”. The community as we know it, has undergone a total transition from being a once thriving steel working area with numerous industries to an economically depressed area that was dependent upon service related jobs. Now we are experiencing economic redevelopment, community empowerment and a revitalization of businesses. Where there are community efforts to problem solve for better housing, improve local schools, provide a safe and more secure community and to help the less fortunate in the area….the South Chicago Chamber is there in the forefront. You can not have a strong district without a strong community and you can not have a strong community without a strong business district!
